My passion has always been to help people and make a difference. After Emigrating from the UK to New Zealand 17 years ago with my husband and children, I continued with my self-owned beauty therapy business of 25 years alongside new opportunities, mainly in teaching beauty therapy and working in small, independent hair and beauty salons.
My career in New Zealand has taken me down so many different avenues, which I’ve loved.
One of my roles was teaching beauty therapy at the College of Camille in Newmarket, Auckland. I so enjoyed teaching and training the young girls, helping them to pursue their passion.
I also ran an Up Skills course for teenage girls, who had left school young and were seeking some training to extend their career options. My classes trained them to be Wax and Nail Technicians.
Then a chance visit to a wig salon changed my life. I’d previously had a minor health issue which resulted in a breast examination. Fortunetely everything was clear but after my experience the idea of helping women with hair-loss meant a lot to me. Besides my beauty training (which I could put to good use), I knew my experience in working closely with hair stylists in the past would help immensely.
In a quiet, private, peaceful nook in Pakuranga, three and a half years ago, I opened Magnolia Wig and Beauty studio. It feels so daunting having to choose a wig or hair piece. The studio is yours for the time you are here, I’ll help you choose the perfect wig/hair piece that will make you feel and look fabulous.
